The Pink Dandelions have a significant departure from their roots with this one, even to the extent of causing me to change their category. Their first CD release sees them dipping into the world of grunge/indie/pop, it definitely owes more to Pearl Jam than Fairport Convention, whilst Phil the Fiddle still has a prominent part to play, Andy Milton's guitar work has now come more to the forefront. The major surprise for me was the total re-working of "The Strawberry Girl" which now bears the subtitle "(Give Me Morrissey)". You just would not recognise it as the same song with it's new grungey rhythms and its quasi-psychedelic vocal tracks. The lads are looking for a deal with this one. I think they may need to develop the idea further yet, but the new direction shows tremendous potential. I could say they were doing an Eden Burning but that would be such a crass journo statement, wouldn't it?
