One night last December Eden Burning returned home to play the last gig of their Vinegar And Brown Paper tour at Cheltenham and Gloucester College Of Higher Education. The tour had taken them all over the country and this final night had drawn a capacity crowd. The atmosphere was electric, as the crowd knew that the gig was being recorded for the new live album 'Smilingly Home'. The Pink Dandelions were in support that night and they too recorded their set for this album. They could be said to be the perfect support for Eden Burning, setting the mood for an evening of wild jigging and reeling, kicking off with "English Heroes", a raucous rocker that grabbed the crowd's attention in a stranglehold which was maintained until the last notes faded away. Alongside their own material some traditional folk songs are included on the album, revealing the rootsier persona of the band. Phil Wright is, as usual, the star of the show, his electric fiddle is the stitching that holds it all together as well as the embroidery that makes it pretty.
