Not to be confused with the actor of the same name, Trevor is something of a behind-the-scenes name in Nashville CCM having penned songs for Geoff Moore and Phillips, Craig & Dean. He's also played bass for Ginny Owens. On his solo debut he shows himself to be an impressive vocalist (a bit like a cross between Jeremy Camp and Bebo Norman) while his style, sometimes favouring an acoustic approach and at other moments going for full throttle pop rock, is warmly engaging without being particularly dynamic. The outstanding songs here, "All About Me" and "Skin And Bones", both take an unblinking look at struggles and imperfections while gentler songs like "Fall Down" and "O Hallelujah" have their moments, if not being completely free of lyrical cliché. All in all, an attractive enough debut though one wonders at the wisdom of three Nashville industry heavyweights launching their new BHT label with this far from innovative release.
