Trevor and Connie Smith have made quite a journey to deliver their CD debut - 5,000 miles to be exact. But judging from the excellence of this modern worship EP, for the Texan couple, now relocated and ministering with Pastor David Flanders at Souls Harbour church in Cornwall, it's been worth every inch. Trevor has written six songs for this project and with memorable melodies, top rate production from Paul Burton and some nice bursts of ringing guitar from Dan Wheeler, the impression is almost entirely favourable. I was even able to tolerate Smith's "LaLaLa" (with the exception of an old Delfonics hit I normally can't abide songs using the dread "la la" refrain). The surging opener "Forever", the building, worshipful "He Will" and the tender "Call Out To Jesus" (demonstrating Connie's excellent voice) are all exceptional. A fine debut.
