Doyens of Britain's Christian music scene will recognise the name Trish Morgan as one time member of gone-but-not-forgotten Heartbeat. Trish wrote some of that team's best loved numbers including "Come On And Celebrate". So I was intrigued to hear what the lady is doing now that she's settled in Belfast. In many ways 'Closer To You' is a continuation of Trish's musical direction with Heartbeat, snappy pop-production with mainly straight ahead praise and worship words all sung in her distinctive keening voice. Brian Hoston also sings some leads and it's his gnarled rock voice on a thoroughly contemporary arrangement which gives "Come On And Celebrate" a whole new lease of life. Some fresh and attractive new songs and although the budget line production isn't quite first division this is still an easy-on-the-ear album from an important worship ministry.
