This is a compilation of 30 Wanda Jackson recordings from her Capitol years. Unfortunately, none of her earlier Decca recordings are present. What this set does give you is all of her big country hits like "Right Or Wrong", "In The Middle Of A Heartache" and a particular favourite of mine, "Silver Threads And Golden Needles", which the Springfields popularised in the UK in the 1960s. The album closes with a live version of her fine rock and roll version of "Let's Have A Party" which gave her her one and only British chart position and which has now come to be thought of as one of the finest rock and roll records. The album notes detail Wanda's Christian commitment and describe how she left mainstream country music following her conversion in the mid '70s, but unfortunately there are no gospel tracks at all on this compilation. So all in all I find this album a bit of an anomaly, even though it does contain some very good music.
