This is good old-fashioned country gospel. The inlay cover reads that “Before there was a Dolly or a Tammy there was a Wanda!” Wanda Jackson was a very big name in the secular country music scene all over the world, particularly in the 50’s and 60’s. She also achieved success in the pop and rock industry. After her conversion to Christianity, Wanda went on to record “religious” albums. This album is a collection of old favourites such as “Fill My Cup Lord”, “One Day At A Time” and “Because He Lives”. If Shania Twain is your idea of country music, then this is not for you! If you enjoy the music of Bill Gaither and the old-time Southern harmonies, you will love this. There are several of Bill Gaither’s songs featured here and a “Gaither Praise Medley”, including “I Came To Praise The Lord” and “Get All Excited”. Don Francisco even gets a look in with his “Closer To Jesus”. No matter what the style, these songs are definitely “inspirational” and spoke to my heart. Each song is full of simple Biblical truth, and Wanda sings them with sincerity which seems to convey just how much Jesus really does love each one of us.
