In any sort of music you often wonder 'what happened to so and so' after artists you like suddenly disappear off the scene for no apparent reason. Such was the case with Wesley Parker who in the '90s was apparently worn out with the rigours of the road. This was later compounded further by the loss of his only son and it was several years before he started to perform again. Happily Wesley is now back performing and recording, or you could more accurately say re-recording as the title of the album is quite true insofar that Wesley has re-recorded most of these excellent songs using the original backings! The opening track "What I Was" represents the NOW bit of the album title as this is a brand new recording. The remainder of the album contains his new vocals of his popular recordings from all those years back, such as "Send Some Rain" and such fine numbers as "Montana Sky", "White Lines North", the lovely "Have Someone To Love" and the very catchy "RustyWarner". A musical clue to what this recording is about is that on a couple of tracks the backings sound distinctly Don Williams style, indicating just how popular his style of laid back country was at the time Wesley originally recorded these fine songs. Welcome back to this warm-hearted country singer.
