This is the centenary of Walton's birth so it is not surprising that all of his work is available. A spiritual rather than a religious man, Walton nevertheless wrote some splendid choral music. The "Coronation Te Deum" is celebrating its Golden Jubilee this year and is a majestic opening. The rest of the album spans 60 years, from his schoolboy "A Litany: Drop, Drop Slow Tears" to a 1974 setting of Francis of Assisi's "Cantico del Sole". An outstanding collection and, as it is on Naxos, you will get change from a fiver.
