Paul Calvert spoke with Caritas Baby Hospital

Continued from page 2

Bashir: It is not very high, but it is still more than in Israel or Europe, because when we speak about mortality rate between children or between babies, we are speaking about 14.5% per mill; that means from 1000 children 14 children will die. In Israel it is about 4%, which is very similar to Europe, which is from every 1000 children four children will die because of diseases and so on.

Paul: Why do you do what you do?

Bashir: I am actually the PR Manager for the hospital and I am trying to do some local PR and trying to work with our offices in Europe, because we have another five offices in Europe. Our main office is in Lausanne in Switzerland. I am trying to support these offices with enough PR materials that they can use in order to bring more donations for the hospital and I am trying to do through my work a little bit of fundraising.

Paul: What's your prayer for the hospital and the children in the area?

Bashir: My prayer first of all is that finally we will get freedom as Palestinians and also peace for everyone. No-one can live without the other one in a way and I think we have to try to live together to find this peace. We found it in a way at the Caritas Baby Hospital. I hope that the people will also start believing in peace and the human rights and the child rights and this is very important for us. CR
