Heather Bellamy spoke with Carly Jones, the national manager for Mission Without Borders, about the European Commission's anti-trafficking report.
Continued from page 2
Heather: What would you like to see happen as a result of this report?
Carly: What we would call for, is that there is much more resource put into tackling the root causes of trafficking. It can be a bit late, by the time we are trying to support people once they've been trafficked. We want to see much more resource put into getting under the skin of why traffickers are even able to do that to somebody in the first place.
Heather: If somebody likes the idea of stopping it at the root and supporting a family, how do they go about that?
Carly: You can sign up online for family sponsorship. Our website is www.mwbuk.org. There is an online sign up form. If you would like to sponsor a family in a particular country, then you can do that. It costs £18 a month. You can also call us on 0207 9401370. It's a very simple process.
We are very unique in the sense that you will get a specific family.
We will send you updates about the family and you can correspond with
them. You get to be part of their journey to self-sufficiency and you
can stand by them all the way through.
