What Happens After Death Part 7

Continued from page 1

The devil, or Satan, is fully unmasked in God's Word, the Bible. The Lord Jesus clearly said in John chapter 8 that the devil was the father and originator of all evil and murder. Here are the words: 'The devil was a murderer from the beginning and there is no truth in him. When he makes lies, he speaks according to his own nature, because he is a liar and the father of lies.'

Paul says that the devil fell from being good to being evil through pride.

In Ezekiel chapter 28 we are told that God created the devil as originally good but pride caused his fall. Matthew 4:9 tells that Satan craves to be worshipped.

Isaiah chapter 14 tells how he tried to become greater than God. He was expelled and started to wreck God's earth and creation.

Genesis chapter 3 tells how he caused the ancestor of our human race to rebel against God.

Job chapters 1 and 2 tells how he hates good people and tries to spread scandal about them, and afflicts them with disease.

Mark chapter 8 tells how Satan afflicts people with illness.

2 Corinthians chapter 12 tells how he afflicted Paul. In chapter 11, we're told that the devil disguises himself as an angel of light by putting unconverted ministers into the Church to deny the truth, and by starting false religions.

Revelation shows how he deceives the whole world by his lies.

An example of this was a series on British television. The speaker said that Jesus was not mentioned anywhere in history. This was very misleading because Jesus is mentioned seven times by seven Roman historians of the time; nine Jewish antagonists speak of him as well as eight other writers of the time. Also there is the full story of Jesus by the four Gospel writers who declare themselves eyewitnesses. More mention of Jesus is made than of any other historical character.

All efforts to reply to this outstanding lie were blocked by the television authorities. But, praise God, the Bible tells how the devil will be banished to hell, and so will all his fallen angels. Then all the world, including nature, will be at peace. Meanwhile the born-again Christian is given authority over the devil.

St James says, 'Resist the devil and he will flee from you.'

Revelation chapter 12 says that 'the ancient serpent who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world will be conquered by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of God and the testimony of believers who loved not their lives unto death'. Instead, the Lord Jesus has given believers authority over the devil. The Lord Jesus has defeated him, and Jesus assures you in Matthew chapter 28:18 that, 'All power is given unto him in heaven and earth, and everywhere.'

So take courage, if you are a believer, you are on the winning side.
