Delirious? delay single and album release

THE MUCH anticipated release of the new Delirious? single and album have both been delayed as the band continue to put the finishing touches to the new album. The first single will be "Bliss" which has already proved to be a popular song in the band's live set. It is due for release in March whilst the release of the album "Mezzamorphis" has been put back to May. At press time, the band continue their negotiations with Virgin Records.

In other developments a book charting the rise of the Littlehampton band, Purepop, written by the group's publicist Craig Borlase, has just been published.

In a recent interview in New Christian Herald, lead singer Martin Smith spoke about the tensions that existed for Delirious? once singles were released into the mainstream. "Up until then we had just been gliding along. We had been working hard and had made some good decisions, but we hadn't pushed it in anyone's face. All throughout the early days it felt like God had been raising it up.

As soon as we got to the singles, we felt the tension. It was the first time that we had ever consciously pushed ourselves on people. We never told people that they had to buy our singles to support our 'ministry', but all the same, it felt strange. We wondered how you could do it all and be a Christian. Can you be a Spirit-filled Christian and attempt to be a pop star?" Can you? "Yes," replied the singer, "I think you can. But ask me again in a couple of years." CR
