Bassist with Vigilantes Of Love Jon Guthrie dies in car crash

A SINGLE car crash has brought tragedy to the mainstream alt rock band fronted by Bill Mallonee, Vigilantes Of Love. Bass player and multi-instrumentalist Jon Guthrie died on 26th September when his vehicle veered off the road and into a creek off Beaverdam Road in Athens, Georgia. Reports say it appears that the 26 year old musician lost control of the vehicle while crossing over a bridge.

In a Facebook posting Mallonee wrote, "Jon was one of the kindest, most generous people I've ever known. His talent on guitar, bass and vocals was immense, his heart as big as the heavens, and his willingness to always find the best in people undiminished. Jon, we miss you dearly."
