This album has been out quite a while in States but is only now available in the UK, thanks to Kingsway picking up the rights to Music Missions International. As we recorded back in CR43, the extraordinary revival in a previously obscure church in Brownsville, Pensacola, Florida has catapulted worship leader Lindell Cooley to international prominence. The whole Brownsville thing has subsequently gone on the road and this celebration, recorded before a huge throng in Dallas, is a spirit stirring experience. Lindell is a white guy with more than a little black gospel in his armoury (listen to his rendition of Richard Smallwood’s “We’ve Come To Praise Him”), while his wife too is an exceptional diva (catch her on Kenneth Morris’ blues gospel evergreen “My God Is Real” where she gets close to Queen Mahalia). On a different musical arena, there are credible renditions of Delirious?’ “The Happy Song” and Andy Park’s “Let It Rain” with a tight band (check out Gary Lunn’s Bass). Rather an exhausting listen experience to take all in one go, but no one could doubt the anointing.
