Not one of Cliff's better known films but this musical documentary celebrates the land of Israel and explains the country's history through information and song. Studying the Old Testament prophecies narrator Cliff Barrows presents their fulfilment in modern Israel and Cliff Richard sings songs about them. It's actually a curiously optimistic late '60s piece which feels slightly awkward when put into the context of the events in 21st century Israel. Maybe it's because it's filmed in the '60s but the tone of it seems naïve and romantic 35 years on. The on screen chats between the two Cliffs are sooooo wooden. It's, "OK kids, let's do the documentary right here!" The film includes a trip to Bethlehem, Nazareth and Galilee and a look at the life of Jesus and it concludes with an appeal for salvation. Not sure why it should be released on DVD now since musically this isn't the strongest material of Cliff's career. However one bonus feature will please fans, there is a selection of newsreels from the '60s which have old fashioned charm and plumby BBC accents!

You've only got to see comment below to realise people are still blaming the Jewish people for all the evils in the world. We've not learnt anything. This documentary is about the role Israel has in the Bible it is not Jewish illuminati propoganda it is a Christian production only a gulllible fool who've been brainwashed by conspiracy theorists and Jew haters would think otherwise..it it could be called thinking. This is an inspiring documentary.

I agree with Mr. Rimmer's review pretty much. It is easy to be critical of some filming standards from the late 60's, but I liked the music story telling style. It is a Christian based film looking at the rebuilding of Israel. It is also interesting historically because the times are very different now. And I have to say it sure ends with the fastest and most upbeat version of the Hallelujah chorus I have ever heard - haha. It is far from Oscar quality, but I sure enjoyed it and it is a great family Christian film.

This is pure garbage and Zionist propaganda of the
highest degree. Do you think Israel would allow
Christians to make a movie in their country without
screening it first ? Billy Graham is a mouthpiece
for the Illuminati and the Jewish New World Order.

I loved this film, back then, and would like to know if I can get a copy of it now?

I've never seen the movie but as a child, fell in love with my mother's recording -- a 33 vinyl record-- of the music, featuring numerous stills from the motion picure, and have always desired to own a copy of the movie as I'm a big fan of musicals ... I figure it can't be any worse than some of the musicals released within the past decade or two!! And, frankly, no matter how inferior it may be, I know I will rejoice with the Christian musicians who brought praise to the God of Israel and will thrill to the memories it causes to resurface in my mind...
