Now here's a strikingly fresh take on R&B harmony albums. Take five adept vocalists (two black, three white) and a pile of lyrics straight from the book of Psalms. Let the group leader Eddie James work out new melodies and arrange them under various headings, David The Shepherd, David The Warrior, David The King, etc. Then bring virtuoso harmonies, every bit as tricky as Take 6, and accompaniments that range from grooves to acapella. Composer/group leader Eddie James is clearly a huge talent and if you're looking for a sparklingly fresh concept album, yet one brimming over with timeless spiritual truth, 'The David Story' is for you.
