With proceeds all going to the building fund at Westborough URC, it's clear that Dave Snell isn't in it for the money! Instead what we have is a selection of lightly pop flavoured worship songs which are nicely produced and well executed. Built around acoustic guitar with some great sax playing, there are some good songs here. "The River Of Life" and "Well I Know" both have a nice atmospheric vibe and "Broken Places" has some wonderful mellow sax. Other highlights are the cute song for his daughter, "My Bethany" and the album closes with an excellent dreamy "I Look Into The Past". As private recordings go, this has much to commend it but the promise of the opening songs doesn't continue throughout as the second half of the album is mainly given over to some bland worship songs. Occasionally the singing is a bit off too which spoils things. This is all a shame because there is definitely talent. I hope Dave gets the chance to record again. I wouldn't mind belonging to a church if he was the worship leader!
