Is this seriously Eden's first record? The London-based funk band offer such a mature, professional sound I'd have thought the four of them had been around for years. The songs are well written and performed with sweet but emotional vocals from songwriter Allan (although his falsetto leaves a little to be desired). Bassist Chris provides a fundamental groove throughout, which perfectly compliments Reuben's in-the-pocket drumming. The first track "I Can't Hide" shows off the band's vocal harmonies with rich, warm backing vocals, whereas the title track emphasises Allan's beautiful acoustic guitar playing. However, the highlight of the album for me was the flawless lead guitar by Ben, peaking in the final song "No Longer Blind", with fantastic bluesy rhythm guitar moving into an impressive solo to round the disc off. The three tracks here offer a good pointer to the (hopefully) successful future of this talented young band.
