Michael Peter Ball, the Northern Ireland-based singer/songwriter who prefers the stage name Foldinglights, brings an honest openness to his songwriting. He covers a lot of life in the five songs here. The EP opens with "Fear The Night" with its chugging guitar riff and atmospheric synth underpinning the strong vocals, a theme that continues in "Noose" with Michael's voice providing the backbone of the track. "Nehemiah" has a more spacious and reflective feel suiting the lyrics and "Let My Head Decide" builds gently on this looking at the fight between head and heart before the climactic final celebration of "Rebuild". With Trevor Michael at the helm the production is second to none and each song has been nurtured individually rather than have a formula applied. A very strong EP and one that will still be pleasing the listener after many repeats.
