Every now and again singer/singwriter/pianist Gary Chapman comes up with a song of such towering magnificence (“Sweet Jesus”, the tale of a flood disaster of yesteryear, is one such song) that one is staggered that the one time Mr Amy Grant has not been far more prolific than the eight albums he’s released since 1981. But even here on this ‘Best Of’ compilation, one is seldom engaged with the gentle, melodic lilters, country-tinged opuses and cleaned up pop rock on offer here. Only big fans will truly be interested, and they’ll have many of these cuts already.
