Jakob’s Knight are a band originating on the campus of Columbia Union College in Takoma Park, Maryland. They’re an eclectic bunch. “Sinking” is driven by a funk bass riff and switched lead vocals with rock guitar interjections. “Give Thanks” is a moodily wistful acoustic praise song. “Change My Name” has an interesting lyric, an exploration of when trickster thief Jacob was renamed Israel after he wrestled with God. A goodish debut album of pop rock tracks with thought provoking lyrics from a talented, if not particularly original, band.
