Five inspiring garage tunes from a classic and prolific combination of talent. Solid rhythms, funky bass, guitar and organs, powerful choir and "way out there" lead vocals; hot enough to melt an Alaskan ice cube! The thing with the Basement Boys label is that you know what you're going to get before you get it. But in this case that's a very positive statement, as it's always kwalitee! "Smile" is an inspirational love song; "Music" is a smooth and funky Latin groove considering the unifying powers of music and church, while "Till I Found You" is about the joy of knowing Jesus. "I Wanna Sing" is a bit self-indulgent vocally, but the riotous "God Helps Those" more than makes up for it with its smile-inducing, double-time, hand-clapping, gospel-hall, raise-the-roof and rhythms. So, a predictable record (in the best possible way) and a perfect antidote to the less favourable aspects of today's dance culture. DJ Coopoid
