Anoraks might tell you that "Gaudete" was the only 14th century Latin chant to reach the UK Top 20 (Steeleye Span took it there in 1973). Now with the sampled voice of Maddy Pryor plus some vocals from Rose Kemp (Maddy's 16 year old daughter) over a chilled out rhythm track which blends surprisingly effectively with the haunting Gregorian melody. It's wonderful to have lyrics like "The world is renewed by Christ's reign" on a single pitched at the charts, even if they are sung in Latin!
