Bananas is an American syndicated comedy series, both on TV and radio. Each programme highlights a different Christian comic. This DVD is one of the series and features Mike Williams, who has written for other TV shows and comics. Included is the TV show, which has part of his routine interspersed with interview clips and "reality bits," basically Williams goofing around. We also get the entire stand-up performance, a full interview and more reality bits. This can be tedious if you do what I did and watch the TV show first, as it is all repeated in the following features. Williams is a charismatic performer who, being a Christian, stays on the right side of decency and taste. The American references aren't so deep that we won't get them over here, and Williams is a decent guitarist. No big belly laughs, but a couple of enjoyable lines. On the whole this is something that you would let your kids watch, but don't expect to get your sides split.
