This is one of two collections of songs that come from two Bruderhof communities in North America. This tape focuses on the issue of capital punishment and is, I'm afraid, plain awful. A few of the songs are passable, but most are cliche ridden and trite. (Many of the songs are written by the children themselves, for which there must be some leeway; but if the songs aren't good who's going to buy the tape, except the kids' parents?) The solo voices are poor, the songs are pitched too high or UK) low for the voices, the choir shout rather than sing...and the instruments are not always together. This tape is simply not for public consumption. I also have reservations about the subject matter. If people feel strongly about issues, of course they must speak out and act, but involving young children in campaigning against the death penalty - I'm not sure.
