Light is a universally recognised symbol of hope and, within Christendom, Jesus' promise of life. This double CD takes the theme of light and it's centrality to Advent and Christmas and seeks to "enlighten" the listener through music, prayer and the word (given and expounded by Nick Fawcett) on its importance in these "dark times". Nick covers six areas including how to share our light with the world and how we can make sense of light in a dark world. Each section is broken up by a traditional carol or piece of choral Christmas music taken from previously released Kevin Mayhew albums and then followed by a word of prayer. There is nothing revelatory here and it errs on the traditional side, however, if used as part of a meditation or reflection on the hope that surrounds Advent, it is both insightful and helpful as the listener is taken on a journey into the light of Jesus and the freedom that he brings.
