Quite literally hot off the presses (Nick told me that he'd collected the tapes from the studio on the Wednesday prior to Cross Rhythms festival, and his set in the Fringe tent drew heavily on the album material), this is an excellently recorded and presented 10 song tape, all self penned, and recorded straight onto the digital master at ICC studios. Mag back numbers fetishists can turn to issue 24, page 47 to get an insight into Nick's musical philosophy; he has, a laid back, free and easy style on his unamplified acoustic guitar which indicates his experience and ability (he has played electric lead guitar in rock bands in the past). The songs are on various topics, from the second coming and eternal life to his wife and daughter, and I found them very easy to listen to. Nick is on of many "have guitar will travel" all dues-paid singer/songwriter/musicians in this country, who seek to put over their message simply, directly and, in Nick's case, superbly. It's three years since Nick's last tape, and 10 years since his first one. I can think of lots of worse ways to spend £7.50.
