Nick Syrett has been involved in full time Christian ministry for many years and in several countries. He was the founder of Forerunner Music working with Mike Bickle's International House Of Prayer in Kansas City before moving to Jerusalem in 2005 to serve on the leadership team of Rick Ridings' Succat Hallel (www.jerusalempraise.com), a 24/7 House Of Prayer overlooking Mount Zion. This is the third in Nick's popular series of beautifully orchestrated instrumentals "designed to draw the listener into the secret place of gazing upon the beauty of the Lord." These seven tracks were spontaneously composed during recording in Cyprus and reflect the prophetic and contemplative atmosphere of the devotional prayer meetings in Kansas City and Jerusalem. Nick's piano playing is laid back, understated much of the time and weaves effortlessly around the musical theme of each track. Other keyboards, guitars, cello and recorder were overdubbed later to fill out the sonic tapestry. IHOP worship leader Misty Edwards contributes vocals on the track "Awakening", which for me makes this the standout track on the album and in comparison leaves the others sounding a little incomplete - and, dare I say, a little similar. However, this is music for meditative and personal devotion, the perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle of every day life. With titles like "Yearning", "Freedom" and "Surrender" - the tracks were named by the team at Succat Hallel after they were recorded - this album invites the listener to find some peace and quiet and listen to the still small voice.
