In the same way that Spring Harvest was, in the '60s and '70s, THE showcase for all that was good and relevant in Britain's burgeoning modern worship movement, today Passion with its unerring ability to engage the spiritual hungry of heart generation of students has become America's most significant worship event. And in the same way that Graham Kendrick was once the most significant Spring Harvest worship leader and songwriter before moving on to pastures new, it now seems that Chris Tomlin, once Passion's most high-profile worshipper, has pulled back from his involvement with the event. On this album for the 2018 Passion event, there is no sign of the talented Mr Tomlin, but it is now Kristian Stanfill who, with the help of fellow worshippers Brett Younker and Melodie Malone, have taken up the role of Passion's head worshippers (and are now even identified as the Passion group). Mr Tomlin may no longer be in earshot but there are other talented Passion regulars making good contributions here. "Ghost" is well up to Crowder's high standards with some delicious ragtime-style piano, slide guitar and what sounds like a gospel choir, and Matt Redman's version of "Great Are You Lord" is tenderly endearing. Stanfill and Malone's "God, You're So Good" is an effective re-working of the oldie "God Is So Good", while Sean Curran is powerfully emotive on "Almighty God". Possibly best of all is the closer "All My Hope" where Crowder is joined by CCM star and vocal powerhouse Tauren Wells. All in all, a tangible demonstration that the modern worship train is showing no signs of running out of steam. Neither, for that matter, is Passion who are still bringing exceptional material to the international Church.
