You've got to hand it to our American cousins. They can discover singers with class oozing from every pour seemingly at will. Without knowing Patty's particular story of (presumably) gigging around small time halls and sending off demo's in the struggle to find the elusive Big Time, it's tempting to be critical about this jazz-tinged, soul-tinged pop gospel album with all its faultless production values. Slickly produced pop gospel, particularly from ladies beautiful of face as the ones shown on the CD pic can seem pretty remote and irrelevant to the impoverished Christian music scene of Britain. But that would be churlish. Patty has a fine voice, all husky resonance and with enough technique to swirl and curl delightfully around a ballad and intone rather soulfully on a funky pop rhythm. None of the songs sounded like smashes first play but this lady will surely be around awhile.

Patty's debut came in March of 1991, as with many other top ccm artists who released projects around this time, to include Susan Ashton's debut cd. The opening song "Until Now" gets you in that nice, feel good mood with great horn sounds. Top ccm song-
writer Claire Cloninger co-wrote 2 #'s; "Way for the
Wayward Child" stands out:great bgvs for the song.
"The River" has that old-fashioned gospel sound that I really like to hear. The beautiful anthem "Into My Heart" ends the songset. I have Patty's follow up cd 5 years later! It's hard to believe it's been 20 years ago her debut was released. GOD Bless! -Don
