A six piece made up of young people from Christian City Church, Oxford Falls, Sydney, Receiver are another compelling illustration of how Australian CCM is somehow that little bit more original than its American and European counterparts. Whether it's the physical distance from the rest of the CCM world that causes this, I don't know, but there's clearly something going on to give band after band from these parts of the world a whole new sound. Receiver make such mature and accomplished music for their age. All talented writers in their own right, the five lads and one young lady have produced brooding, sweeping soundscapes coupled to simple but profound lyrics speaking of the grace and glory of God. For a group of young people this is an astonishingly assured and fascinating record.
