A friend of slightly more mature years than your esteemed editor gave this album his unqualified seal of approval - praise indeed. Right from the initial rallying call to "Give 'Em The Word" to the final eulogy to the "Fairest Lord Jesus", the voice of Mrs Carrie Hodge dominates this tremendous set of R&B-tinged gospel. Nine carefully crafted songs provide a pop-driven showcase for the talented Mrs Hodge. A touch Beckerish when looking to the coming of the Lord on "Going Home", and "This Could Be The Time", even a hint of Gladys Knight on "Wake Up", her voice draws openly upon a variety of musical influences. But, the infectious nature of her righteous cry demands to be taken very seriously. Each track reflects a simple revelation of God's Word. So often, singers shy away from the clear call to proclaim the Word of God in the quest for street cred. Here, Two Hearts certainly 'Gives 'Em The Word', and it's great fun into the bargain.
