With its sister volume 'Sent By The Lord' this is a collection of short songs from around the world, collected together and recorded by the lona Community. The songs here come from a variety of countries, including South Africa, Argentina, Russia and Hungary and are sung in a mixture of English as well as indigenous languages. The (mostly) unaccompanied songs reveal a multi coloured tapestry, full of wonderful melodies, harmonies and rhythms, The words often reflect the sufferings of the Church in other parts of the world, but out of those sufferings has come a faith that is deep, full of joy and full of hope in a God who himself enters out world to suffer with us. and bring us hope. We might find some of the songs hard in sing, not musically, but because they have been forged out of suffering situations that we know little about. But if we can sing them, we will learn much, and the songs will enrich the worship and prayer life of our churches.
