As a musician, I really appreciate a good resource for contemporary worship songs and this most certainly falls into that category. This book draws together more than 50 of the top modern worship songs from people such as Matt Redman, Casting Crowns, Third Day and Tim Hughes. Songs included are "Hosanna (Praise Is Rising)", "Almighty God, You Never Let Go" and "Give Me Jesus" to name but a few. Many of these I have heard as live worship songs at New Wine and they have worked so well but not all of the songs will be so effective in a smaller congregational setting when you look at some of the vocal ranges! The book is extremely well put together with full musical scores, lyrics, chord sheets, etc but it does go a few steps beyond this also. Included are very useful snippets of information such as vocal ranges, tempos in BPM as well as even similar style songs. On top of all this, there are Scripture references for each song, with some very useful index listings at the back of songs arranged by tempo, theme, key as well as by artist/project so there's more than enough information here to help most worship leaders with an informed song choice. This is a very well compiled book indeed and much thought has gone into the production which is evident throughout - well worth the investment, especially if you're out for a change from Songs Of Fellowship on a Sunday morning or even something for a live event.
