Like Box Car Willie a decade ago in Britain, Benny Berry could well be someone else who becomes popular in the States after being 'discovered' in Britain! As with Boxie, you know that when you pick up a Benny Berry record it's good, down home country at its best with plenty of steel guitar and accompaniment. Benny had a hand in writing a couple of tracks. Several songs relate to familiar subjects for country music, home and family (like the title track) plus one superb gospel track "Old Gideon Bible". The more I play this album the more I like it! Mercifully it's free from cheating and boozing lyrics which drag down so much country output. So if you like your music in traditional style via George Jones and Merle Haggard this is for you!
