Magnificent Ms Morgan's third album shows a new maturity both musically and in her vocal performance. Her previous efforts have won her friends in America and a Dove award for best new artist in 1993 and yet she still remains virtually unknown over here. 'Under The Waterfall' is a good enough album to change all that. Musically, she skips styles from some gently pop grooves, through powerful ballads to the dynamic intro of "Angels Falling" which looks at the devastation of suicide. The theme of grace permeates the album and shows the way in which Cindy's lyrics have grown up in the three years since her debut album. Her singing has never been better. There's a touch of Anita Baker and Celine Dion in all of this and the less frantic production than on previous albums allows Morgan's voice to soar to previous unheard heights. My favourite is the album's opener "Sweet Days Of Grace" with its mellow opening before breaking out into a deliciously catchy piece of pop. Just to get your money's worth, there's even Michael W Smith tinkling away on the old ivories. What more could you want?
