Take two of the most successful and creative worship bands around at the moment, put them on the same stage on the same night and you end up with something that's even more than the sum of the parts. At least, I assume that was at least part of the thinking behind this collaboration. But did it work? Well... umm. Maybe. It has to be said that this is a classy production and fans of either Hillsong or Delirious? won't find anything to complain about in their respective performances. But I have to say that I'm less than fully convinced. Instead of a full concert by either band, we've got two half concerts, neither of which are complete in themselves and yet neither do they add up to a coherent whole. There are some nice touches, such as Martin Smith and Darlene Zschech providing guest vocals on the Hillsong and Delirious? sets respectively, and the closing song - a whole 10 minutes of "History Maker" featuring part of the Hillsong band as well as the D:boys - is superb. Or, at least, it probably is on the CD, but on the DVD it's spoiled by having the credits start to roll about halfway through! It's niggles like this which knock some of the edges off the overall appeal. But, on the other hand, the DVD does come with the usual extras such as a behind-the-scenes documentary, on-screen lyrics, etc, as well as two concert tracks not on the CD. I still can't escape the feeling, though, that this DVD is slightly less, rather than more, than the sum of the parts.
