This album is a collection of the best Michael W Smith's recordings over his 29 year career. "Awesome God" is a strong start, although quite a few of the other covers, including "Mighty To Save" and "Here I Am To Worship", have been played to death by other artists and Smith's versions don't offer anything particularly new. The self-penned songs are relatively strong, particularly "Take Me Over" from his critically acclaimed 'Wonder' album. Songs like "Great Is The Lord" sound dated now but will doubtless appeal to those who remember them when they were new. The presence of songs that were written more than 20 years apart from each other is testament to his enduring appeal. This collection of oldies is one for those who want a worshipful trip down memory lane or want to reminisce over the career of one of Christian music's most successful artists. It is questionable as to whether this particular compilation really needed to be released. But if you have so far missed out on Michael's worship projects and enjoy his type of classily produced pop, you may want to investigate.
