First came the CDs featuring the best of two decades of music , then following the rules of marketing , the DVD. Michael's solo career has lasted for over 20 years and this DVD celebrates it in style. Featuring a live concert that took place on 26th October 2003 in Columbus, Ohio, a musical leap through time is experienced, celebrating songs from Michael's first solo album 'The Michael W Smith Project' through to the "Signs" single taken from ' The Second Decade 1993-2003'.In addition, Michael's songwriting contribution is highlighted with a guest appearance by Amy Grant performing songs including "Lead Me On" and "Thy Word". The DVD is a big budget Dolby 5.1 Surround/PCM Stereo production and includes 'The Making Of "Signs" Video', the "Signs" video itself and a photo gallery. This is an excellent reminder of how far the ex member of Higher Ground and Amy Grant keyboard player has come.

Wow! 20 years we have been hearing the music of Michael W.
Smith; and in between there have been some concert videos
during the span of his music career. I really enjoyed his
first in 1985 which included Amy Grant & Gary Chapman; what
a hi-light
performance of the song "Friends". It would have been nice
to see another performance by them of the song on this 20
year celebration: after all, Amy also
made a guest appearance on this dvd set. The 1986
"Rocketown" was great to see & hear; what a top
notch performance of the new song "Signs". Some of his
best songs like "Place in This World" & "I Will be Here for
You" were edited versions; for a 20 year
celebration the full version of the songs would have been
nice to see and hear. I would have like to see and hear
more classic songs like "You Need a SAVIOUR"& "I Am
Sure"(to name some). I have loved "There She Stands" from
the first time I saw it on video; same with "This is Your
Time": I applaud the performance of both songs. I believe
more songs could have been included for the songset; 3 alone
were provided by Amy. A well known duet by the two would
have brought a nice high light to the dvd: like "Somewhere,
Somehow" or "LORD Have Mercy", but above all, "Friends".
BTW a nice belated "Happy Birthday" to Michael this month
(Oct. 7).
GOD Bless! -Don
