What a great idea in this information technology age. Listen to new worship songs, and if you like one print out the lyrics and musical arrangements from the same CD. The album contains 12 new(ish) worship songs from a dozen songwriters including Matt Redman and Dave Bilbrough. In the CD player, the album starts with the upbeat and irresistibly catchy "Hear The Sound Of The Free (Anthem Of The Free)". Follows that with a song we already sing in church, "I Will Bless The Lord Forever (Made Me Glad)". Other standout tracks are "Seems Like So Long Ago (Mercy Over Me)" and "Through Everything I Do". Alas, as always with these albums, the performers are anonymous. Put the CD into a PC and a Macromedia Flash programme brings up a series of screens which express the publisher's trust in the purchaser to honour the copyright laws, and just what you can and can't do, unless you have the right licences. (I trust these requests won't be in vain.) The menu then gives the opportunity to print out piano arrangements, guitar chord sheets, top line melodies and lyrics either as a Word document or a .PDF to directly print Overhead acetates. All of which can only lead to a general improvement in the level of presentation in church services, which these days is important.
