The 'Colours' series from Maranatha! presents instrumental music and this latest release from Nick Coetzee is a bit of a shock! "Somewhere Heart" includes something which sounds suspiciously like a lead vocal so this isn't truly an instrumental album. Bit of a cheat really but who's counting? Australian Coetzee recorded it back in 1992 so it's been sitting on the shelf for a while! A variety of textures are included and the sounds waft over you in waves. Coetzee plays all the instruments and composed most of the pieces. He proves to be an excellent keyboard player and guitarist, I particularly enjoyed his piano playing on "The Hinterland". Perfect for relaxing at the end of a busy day! "Coming Home" and "Rainmaker" paint a multicoloured musical landscape with sweeping synths to the fore. The whole album was welcome relief to this reviewer soothing the frazzled brain in the wee small hours!

Would like to find this CD. I love Nick's "Road Less Traveled" which has a light jazz sound and is also very "soothing". Nick, however, is from South Africa, not Australia.
