Overstreet's been a major USA country music star for some years, both in solo work, and as a third of the understated 'Schuyler, Knoblick & Overstreet'. He's also a legendary songwriter, there's usually a queue of country stars drooling over his new songs. Since his conversion, and the one statutory gospel album, Paul has thankfully stayed in secular music. The commendable thing is that his song writing is better than ever, and now provides an antidote to all the cheating and heartbreak songs by writing very positive lyrics extolling the finer things of life like marriages and family and popping in the occasional slice of the Christian message. The music's not musky MOR country, it's acoustic, folk-flavoured, and uses some of the finest available musicians, e.g. Don Potter, Reggie Young, Jerry McPherson, Paul Franklin and Mark O'Connor. Good to see that Paul's career hasn't suffered-this album's currently No 19 in the USA country chart, and going up. This is a very fine album displaying a superbly talented man who deserves our respect and support for doing his bit for a better world out there in a very tough scene. This may not see a UK release, but all the country music specialist dealers can supply it

I had heard a song from this cd play on ccm radio,
"The Calm at the Center of my Storm"; it hit home.
How true the line " we ALWAYS think we KNOW what to do...". Amy Grant's long time producer and friend, Brown Bannister assisted in the production of this welcomed body of songs. Another radio song was
the thought provoking "Billy Can't Read"; no doubt it has touched hearts. Some well known bgvs names in country, pop and ccm share their gifted vocals; to include Lisa Silver, Trisha Yearwood, Chris Rodriguez, and Pam Tillis.
Paul has a very positive outlook and it projects out well in his songs, nice to have the negative omitted.
He has a common theme that seems to tie around his songs, the best word one can know, "L-o-v-e".
Listen to the old time crooner sound of "If I Could Bottle This Up". Top ccm songwriter Claire Cloninger
teamed with Paul for cd title "Heroes"; this song will speak to all who hear, definitely one to relate to.
"Straight & Narrow" is a song much needed for today when so many who believe are falling down.
GOD Bless! -Don
