Keen followers of Christian music may recognise the name Paul Zach. He was once a member of CCM hitmakers Remedy Drive and more recently appeared on the critically acclaimed 'Work Songs: The Porter's Gate Worship Project' along with Josh Garrels, David Gungor, Audrey Assad and others. Now comes this five-song project, which is Paul's solo debut and shows him to be a skilled practitioner of stripped down, meditative music. Paul is helped on the project by the hauntingly voiced Liz Vice - who sings lead on "I Will Never Leave You Alone". Accompaniments are provided by some deft cello work and through all the songs a mood of thoughtful adoration is retained, with the opening title track being my favourite. The song "East West", based on some verses of Psalm 103, is also very affecting, although I didn't really care for the male harmonies on "For God Alone", based on Psalm 62. All in all, though, this project is recommended to those wanting gentle music to connect with God, rather than the bombast of much modern worship.
