If there's any justice Speak, Brother will soon burst through to national mainstream consciousness because their haunting brand of folk-cum-art rock is as good as anything on the scene. This EP with its deft light-and-shade production brings out all the poignancy and pathos of lead singer James Herring's voice and its climax with full band aplomb is genuinely thrilling. "Lions Roar" features a children's choir while "The Morning Calls Your Name" has almost an Elizabethan sound beautifully counterpointed by some ringing electric guitar and "See For Miles" is crooned over sparse piano chords. The Rugby-based folksters continue to intrigue with enigmatic lyrics and a sound which is becoming ever increasingly individualistic. . . and that in the crowded acoustic folk scene is no bad thing. A good EP for the growing fanbase.
