Well, here's the Christmas offering from this supreme Canadian choir under the direction of Tony Funk. Interesting set up, the members come together each summer, rehearse, record and disband. I can only say that their time together must be packed with a phenomenal amount of expertise, commitment and hard slog. The standard here is the highest, magnificent quality from the 26-voice mixed ensemble. The featured soloist is lyric soprano Edith Wiens, herself a Mennonite, with a delightfully pure voice. Nod of approval also due to pianist Betty Suderman who accompanies superbly. 21 tracks for you, many Christmas favourites and some lesser-known gems. Choral music par excellence from my favourite choir, ideal for the season.
