Also available in single and triple disc editions, this two CD version of the latest instalment in the long running Bootleg Series chronicles Dylan's unreleased works from 1989's 'Oh Mercy' sessions right through to his recent conquest 'Modern Times'. Contained within are live tracks including the majestic "Lonesome Day Blues" and "Ring Them Bells" as well as songs from film soundtracks and demo sessions. Radically different versions of now familiar songs (including "Dignity" and "Someday Baby") paint a fascinating portrait of an artist caught up in the creative thought process and confirm the theory that Dylan himself occasionally lacks judgment in terms of what should and shouldn't end up on the cutting room floor. For instance, the distinctly average 'Under The Red Sky' would have been a better album had the now resurfaced version of "Born In Time" been included in the official release, not to mention the eternal mystery as to why "Series Of Dreams" never made it onto 'Oh Mercy' in the first place! Each track is a gem in this mesmerizing collection and you could do worse than plump for the three disc version to get the maximum benefit from this man's continuing legacy.
