Reviewed by Tom Lennie This is the latest fare from New Wine's annual celebration - combining the best from their North and South events, 2006. A double-disc affair (just over 40 mins per CD), 'Heavenbound' features a wonderful diversity of worship leaders and thus a variety of styles and sounds. Eoghan Heaslip kicks of each set with some excellent, vibrant praise - Brown/Baloche's "Hosanna" and Tomlin's "Holy Is The Lord" respectively. Martyn Lazell also leads on a couple of tracks, as, too, does Gareth Robinson, with his distinctive, compelling voice. Elsewhere, Trent Vineyard's Nigel Briggs appears with several of his own, lesser-known numbers. Inded, "lesser-known" becomes the operative description of a good half of this venture, with two sensitive home-penned songs from Nicole Brown, another couple from Stu and Lucy Plumb, and one or two more from Trinity Church, Cheltenham. Thus we're treated to many less-familiar, but quality songs - most of which are fairly new - as well as a couple of old favourites, such as an excellent rendition of Doerkson's "Faithful One". The two brilliant, uplifting closing tracks includes a fine, funky take on "Shackles (Praise You)". Passionate deliveries, good production - this is a fine worship album.
