Opening with Tim Hughes' strong song "Jesus You Alone", we get a nice slice Soul Survivor '99, 12 songs in all. Martyn Layzell leads "A Life Of Love", which is a lovely song containing the line, "So we will stand with the weak, give our most to the least," which captures the theme of the festival - evangelism through worship. Martyn's own song, entitled "Devoted", is beautiful in tune and lyrics. Matt Redman is the third and final worship leader featured, Matt's laid back, almost lazy vocal style is used to great effect on the six songs he wrote and led on this CD which he also co-produced. The crowd are mixed into the proceedĀings adding excitement and atmosphere, and the mix is pretty good for a live event. They have avoided the pitfall of some live recordings, which tend to sound distant. The feel of the whole album is mid-paced rather than up tempo, it chugs along with a satisfying groove. There's probably some songs here that will suit your church. It's great worship.
