If you're new to Britain's premier youth culture event you might want to consider investigating this, the second compilation of the Best Of of the live worship albums. On here you've got tracks from 'Living Loud: Soul Survivor Live 2004', 'Anthem Of The Free: Soul Survivor Live 2003', 'Glimpses Of Glory: Soul Survivor Live 2002', 'Your Name's Renown: Soul Survivor Live 2001' and 'The Message 2000: Live From Manchester'. There's also a collectors item, a rendition of Mary Mary's "Shackles (Praise You)" featuring the unlikely combination of worship leader Tim Hughes and hip-hop crew The 29th Chapter which was recorded at London's Soul To Soul mission but never included on that live album as Survivor couldn't get the copyright clearance in time. In truth, Tim's voice isn't suited to the song though the rowdy version does have bags of atmosphere. Much better are Tim's classic "Beautiful One", Martyn Layzell's "Lost In Wonder" and Vicky Beeching's "Yesterday, Today And Forever", the latter reminding listeners what a lost Vicky is to the UK scene - the singer/composer/worship leader having now relocated to the USA. Not every song here is a worship classic, "Making Melody" is one of Matt Redman's dullest ever tunes while Tim Hughes' "Whole World In His Hands" isn't in the same league as the similarly themed spiritual written hundreds of years back! But all in all, the 15 tracks here reflect the God-glorifying atmosphere of those amazing worship celebrations. And as a bonus, the package contains a second Ministry Time CD containing six "spontaneous songs" from folk like Tim Hughes and Matt Redman.
